VICE PRESIDENT, ASSET MANAGER

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hillcrest Finance (“Hillcrest” or “Firm”), a dynamic and growing real estate investment management firm focused on credit solutions (senior loans, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity investments) is seeking an experienced asset management professional to oversee and grow the Firm’s asset management function.  The VP, Asset Manager will have direct oversite of the Firm’s credit investments, participate in the investment process from origination to realization, and be responsible for enhancing existing and developing new processes and procedures with the goal of optimizing the Firm’s investment portfolio’s performance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Firm’s executives
  • Monitor the performance of the Firm’s portfolio at a minimum quarterly, including
    • analyzing performance versus underwriting and budget, updating relevant local, regional, and national market statistics, property, and investment valuations
    • identifying and monitoring asset and investment risks including establishing and tracking loan covenants and other early warning indicators to ensure compliance
  • Produce and present quarterly and ad-hoc asset management reports to senior management
  • Actively monitor transitional assets, including construction, renovation, lease-up, etc. including working with servicers to analyze, process, approve, and facilitate loan draws
  • Perform operational diligence on sponsors/borrowers; work with originations team to develop KPIs and monitoring and reporting processes, procedures, and templates
  • Maintain relationships with investment sponsors/borrowers
  • Identify and assess investment (asset and loan) problems, recommend solutions, modifications, and/or resolution actions to executive team and take leadership of resolution negotiations
  • Periodic travel to inspect existing portfolio investment properties
  • Participate in strategic planning for the growth of asset management function to service the Firm’s growing portfolio
  • Develop sector intelligence to support monitoring, new deal execution, and the Firm’s knowledge base
  • Support the Firm’s capital-raising efforts and participate in special/ad-hoc projects when requested

 

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, relevant advance degree and/or professional designation a plus
  • 5 to 7 years of related commercial real estate experience focused on real estate credit asset management
  • Strategic/critical thinker, ability to simplify complex ideas, excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills
  • Strong financial analytic and underwriting skills (real estate DCF analysis, proficient use of Excel, Co-Star, and Argus)
  • Strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proven management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, work well in a collaborative environment, and have excellent time management abilities
