SPECIFIC PLAN WRITER – PLANNER II

We are seeking a full-time Specific Plan Writer – Planner II for our Costa Mesa office.

Urban Arena is a multi-disciplinary firm on the cutting edge of architecture, landscape architecture, planning, & design. With offices in Costa Mesa, San Diego, and Oakland, UA attracts a diverse group of professionals working on a range of projects from urban villages, retail & entertainment centers, model homes, master-planned residential communities, high-density housing, and sports complexes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and write Specific Plan documents to compliment Urban Arena’s Master Planning.
• Communicate effectively with Clients, City and County staff, consultants, and other team members
• Create and develop exhibits that define the character and quality of community lifestyle amenities, signage, streetscape, and architectural style
• Communicate and understand water quality coordination with civil engineer
• Assist site planning staff on product development and master planning guidelines and exhibits

Key Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities

• Client-facing skills
• Experience with SEQA, EIR documents, QUIMBY, and other development legal obstacles through entitlement
• Management skills such as multitasking, organization, time management, writing etiquette, and professionalism
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Experience with InDesign or other Specific Plan layout programs
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs

Education/Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of working experience in writing and developing Specific Plans
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in A&E, Urban Planning, or Regional Planning

• Pay range $80k-$100k based on experience
