Originator, Commercial Real Estate Credit Investments

POSITION SUMMARY

Candidate will be responsible for sourcing, originating, and structuring CRE credit investments, including senior bridge loans, mezzanine loans and preferred equity collateralized by various property types (multifamily, industrial, hotels, office, retail, condominium, student housing and construction).  The position will be based in New York City.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for sourcing, originating, and structuring high-yield CRE investments as senior bridge loans, mezzanine loans and/or preferred equity.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with real estate brokers, mortgage bankers, commercial and investment banks, and owners, developers and investors.
• Prescreen and qualify loans prior to the underwriting.
• Effectively work with origination team to meet platform targets.
• Utilize credit skills to identify strengths and weaknesses of a transaction, while creating structural features to mitigate risks.
• Interface with underwriting to prepare investor and credit committee presentations.
• Present proposed transactions to investors and investment committee.
• Manage structuring and closing of investments.
• Assist in capital raising.

CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

• 3 – 5 years of direct origination experience.
• Proven track record originating and structuring high-yield CRE investments across the U.S.
• Successfully developed relationships with both institutional and non-institutional owners/borrowers.
• Strong relationships with real estate brokers, mortgage bankers, commercial and investment banks, real estate owners, developers, and investors and finance companies.
• Excellent credit, structuring, and underwriting experience in commercial real estate.
• Ability to identify, structure and mitigate key risks in real estate debt transactions.
• Superior negotiation skills to create well-structured deals while building and maintaining commercial real estate relationships.
• Excellent professional reputation.
• Well-organized, strong, and independent work ethic with an excellent attention to detail
• Collaborative personal/professional style that advances collegial partnered approach to meet platform goals and objectives.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
