The Professionals’ Choice for Real Estate Jobs

Seniors’ Moment

Our annual CRE Hiring Trends Survey will be published next week with perspective and insights on the year ahead and the talent shortage. Apparently, one group has not fully benefitted from our job seeker’s market. Many Seniors reported interviewing, but never getting the call. Interestingly, Japan has defied destiny from its aging population and instead refreshed their labor force. According to the WSJ, the proportion of the population in the Japanese labor force has risen sharply, by more than any other major advanced economy. Part of the secret: they posted job opportunities with the specification: only those over 60 may apply. Japan has sought to lengthen working lives or introduce a system to re-employ workers who do retire. The results have been more than satisfactory on both sides with seniors enjoying a better leisure from their increased income.
