Description
A privately held real estate investment company is looking to hire an Analyst to join its team. The candidate will assist in underwriting, originating and closing commercial real estate debt and equity opportunities across a wide range of asset classes. The firm has a focus in originating senior, mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments, as well as opportunistic equity investments including ground-up development projects. Given the small nature of the company, the analyst will have a chance to be an integral member of an intimate investment team, allowing for an unusual amount of exposure and responsibilities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Underwriting new debt and equity opportunities including the creation of complex financial models
- Preparing initial deal review summaries and preliminary loan analyses
- Preparing detailed investment memorandums for internal committees and investors
- Assisting with due diligence processes: Coordinating with 3rd party vendors and consultants, obtaining and organizing due diligence documentation and materials, performing site inspections and reviewing loan documents
- Fostering and maintaining relationships with brokers to solicit new transactions
- Drafting investment performance updates for capital partners
- Working with Head of Construction to provide support and assisting with asset management functions including preparation of monthly requisitions, maintaining project budgets and schedules, and overseeing contractors and subcontractors as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Real Estate
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience as an analyst, real estate experience preferred
- Advanced excel modeling skills with the ability to create excel models from scratch and model partnership waterfall and promote structures
- Experience underwriting real estate investment opportunities and drafting investment memorandum
- Proficiency in Argus Software
- Basic understanding of New York City centric real estate concepts including zoning, navigating the Department of Buildings, tax implications and the closing process for New York City transactions
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a challenging, fast paced environment and handle multiple projects at the same time. Accuracy and attention to detail is critical
