Duties & Responsibilities
This individual will work with both internal and external teams to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans targeted at maximizing portfolio performance.
Primary responsibilities will include developing and executing on strategic plans for office, mixed use and multifamily residential properties located in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area with focus on retail spaces in the City of Baltimore and commercial properties in Northern Virginia.
- Set strategic plans for the assets
- Evaluate capital improvements that will enhance the value of the portfolio
- Execute on identified initiatives to maximize operating performance and investor returns
- Develop a framework with outside brokers around leasing strategies including evaluating individual tenant spaces in projects and negotiating lease transactions
- Work with property managers to develop, review, revise and approve property budgets and capital plans.
- Oversee the CAM/Tax estimates and reconciliations process
- Monitor and ensure property level debt compliance and determine if leverage level is appropriate
- Build and maintain relationships in commercial leasing broker community
- Contribute to the team’s effort by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed
- Comply with all Southern Management’s policies and procedures

Perform various other duties as assigned by Executive Vice President & General Counsel
Education & Experience Required
- 7+ years of commercial real estate experience, preferably in asset management
- Degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance or Accounting is preferred

The ideal candidate will have a background in office, retail, mixed use and/or multifamily and commercial real estate
Skills Required
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledgeable in the economic and demographic conditions in each market and market trends
- Ability to build stakeholder relationships and communicate with banks and investors
- Team oriented, approachable and strong networking and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and to make recommendations to senior management
- Proficiency in Yardi a plus
