JOB SUMMARY

 

Utilizes advanced skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment and grounds. Working under limited supervision, monitors building system operations and performance. Oversees several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.

ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility.  Assists Senior Engineer with specific phases or aspects of a project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans and product testing.
Assists Senior Engineer with planning the layout of a project and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
Prepares scaled drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
Assists Senior Engineer with construction administration duties and conducting periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Lead the team that provides engineering support.  Directs integration of technical activities and products including the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals, studies, and reports.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

BS degree in mechanical engineering plus 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

None.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.

Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists. Requires intermediate analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Uses personal computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, ESS and training. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.

Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
