RealtyShares has an opening for a Commercial Real Estate Investment Operations Manager on our Operations team. This person will manage and oversee the processing and closing functions for real estate investments (both Commercial Debt and Equity) listed and funded through the RealtyShares platform. This person will be responsible for performing and overseeing all closings, managing the Real Estate Operations Specialists, ensuring that the closing process is done in a timely and accurate manner, and maintaining lines of communication with all stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to:
    • Manage the processing and closing functions for real estate investments (Commercial Debt and Equity) listed and funded through the RealtyShares platform, maintaining communication with the sponsor/borrower, title company, outside attorneys and vendors, and other parties as necessary, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
    • Assist Origination/Deal teams with gathering, reviewing, and assembling due diligence information and other pertinent documentation from pre-underwriting phase to deal closing
    • Drive and manage the verification, coordination, organization, and data management of all deal-critical documentation, including title, insurance, third-party reports, settlement statement, loan agreement, operating agreement, appraisal, and more
    • Work with the Senior Director of Underwriting & Operations to lead the cross-functional collaborative efforts with Investor Ops and Asset Management teams to ensure seamless processing of closings and transition of deals to Asset Management, while maintaining document and data integrity and organization
    • Drive planning around operational roadmap; own the execution of the plan with limited assistance of senior team members throughout the process
    • Demonstrate an ability to lead a successful operations team while continuing to manage one s own workload of deal flow
    • Demonstrate an ability to identify key risks associated with operations execution and asset management for a given transaction/asset
    • Demonstrate accountability for and leadership of a broad number of self-catalyzed initiatives that help the team, but were not necessarily requested by senior team members
    • Actively participate in recruiting of junior talent and drive team culture; demonstrate an ability to retain and develop that team
    • Engage in active instruction and knowledge transfer with junior team membersIdentify and lead opportunities for operational improvement, both internally and externally
    • Drive sub-functional strategy and manage multiple workstreams, while delegating appropriately to Analysts/Directors as necessary
We are looking for someone with:
    • 7+ years of commercial real estate processing/closing experience; commercial equity (Preferred and/or Joint Venture equity) knowledge a plus
    • Bachelor s degree from a four (4) year College or University
    • Experience and extensive knowledge of commercial/small-balance/multi-family regulatory laws and guidelines
    • Demonstrable experience in showing clear focus on detail and ability to recognize and help rectify inconsistencies in data/documents
    • Detailed knowledge of Closing and Legal Documents (i.e. HUD-1, Note, Deed of Trust, Assignment, Title Binder, Hazard and Flood Insurance), Disclosure Documents (TIL, GFE, Right of Rescission, State-specific disclosures helpful but not required)
    • Understanding of business entities (i.e., limited partnerships, LLCs and corporations)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
    • Understanding of origination, processing and underwriting roles and process required
    • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office/Google applications
    • Basic ability to navigate financial statements and financial data
    • Experience with SalesForce is helpful but not required
