Position Valuation Appraisal Manager Company Confidential Client Location New York, NY Reporting Relationship SVP, Valuations Website   Company Background The company is the leading national lender providing bridge loans to top tier real estate developers a fast growing specialty finance niche with attractive risk-adjusted return characteristics. Headquartered in Southern California, the company has a leading presence in Los Angeles and the greater Southern California market and has expanded into numerous other urban markets, including Arizona, Florida, Northern California, and the New York Metro Area. In these geographies, the company offers construction financing (36%), renovation financing (38%), and bridge loans for initial purchase or refinance of in process/ completed projects (26%). The company has been an active lender since 2007, originating over 3,000 loans totaling over $3 billion. Position Summary The Valuation Appraisal Manager is responsible for evaluating both as is and after repair values for properties the company is considering making bridge or construction loans on or that are within the company s lending portfolio. The role will focus on valuations in NY and possibly other east coast geographies. The position will focus on and assist with the continual development and evaluation of market data and trends that affect asset value. The primary focus of the role is to get value right both as is and after repair and accuracy of after repair value will be evaluated based on actual asset sales prices upon project completion. Essential Functions Review, audit and assist with asset valuation, for both single family and multi-family assets Demonstrate ability to evaluate and analyze real estate assets o As-is value o After repair value Evaluate multiple data streams for valuation purposes Prepare detailed analysis of properties for reporting purposes Deliver detailed analysis, explanation, assumptions and conclusion to executive team on assets Develop new process flow to improve efficiencies Help evaluate and expand, as needed, the company s appraiser network and/or panel for New York and east coast geographies Provide valuation opinions on assets in the funding pipeline and assets on which loans are already funded, as requested Be in tune with subjective and objective market data and trends to help support valuations Leadership Responsibilities Build a strong relationship with the LA valuations team Development an intimate understanding of the company s strategies, policies, procedures and forms used for asset valuation Provide performance feedback to local appraisers, as appropriate, to ensure company business needs and timelines are being met. Terminate in collaboration with LA team underperforming or non-performing appraisers in NY. High school diploma required Experience or professional license (real estate, appraisal) preferred. Bachelor s Degree in business administration or real estate a plus. Minimum 5-7 years experience in the real estate industry; 10+ years preferred Experience should include real estate appraisal and/or asset valuation roles Proficient and knowledgeable underwriting residential assets (both single family and multi-family preferred) Familiarity with MLS and other real estate search engines Ability to concisely summarize thoughts into written form Strong ability to articulate requirements of real estate professionals Additional Strong problem solving and analytical skills Ability to work well under pressure Ability to communicate with upper management when required Must work well in fast paced, team environment Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven, detail-oriented environment
