Overview:  Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit affordable homeownership affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, partners with families and neighborhood residents to build homes and revitalize communities. Our service area includes the city of Atlanta and the cities and neighborhoods of South Fulton. We are creating a new position and seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join our team.  


Position Summary
:  The Data Analyst will manage, analyze, and report on school-level and regional data from various sources (e.g., academic, operations, demographics, etc.) pertinent to the regional strategic plan. The Data Analyst will support implementation of organizational data strategies around driving decision-making and instructional practices through analyses and capacity building. This role will require a combination of data analysis, organizational reporting, and project management skills. This position reports to the Vice President of Housing and Neighborhood Engagement.


Key Responsibilities:
 Oversee data management, analysis, and strategy in alignment with Atlanta Habitat’s strategic plan.

Data Analysis, Application, and Action 

  • Collaborating with the Vice President of Housing and Neighborhood Engagement to define service area data analysis, reporting plan, and deliverables.
  • Collaborating with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and maintain the corporate scorecard.
  • Conducting descriptive and predictive analytical work on Atlanta Habitat’s impact on neighborhood demographics, family success, educational achievement and other critical success indicators.
  • Data collection, management, and tracking related to homeowner and program participants through client surveys or other tools and outcome measures.
  • Translating data into relevant insights and implications and support stakeholders on interpreting findings.
  • Regularly monitoring key metrics and report significant changes or trends.
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring the use of real-time data reports and dashboards to support strategic decisions. Seeking feedback from teammates and end users to improve the product. Providing training and coaching on using reports and dashboards.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation of data analysis and synthesis methods and processes.
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of all regionally standardized data sources and systems, staying constantly aware of new updates and incorporating changes into analytical approach and data visualizations.
  • Conducting community asset mapping in target neighborhoods to support the identification of community needs assessment.

Data Management and Support 

  • Collaborating with Vice President of Housing and Neighborhood Engagement to develop and maintain data warehouse of all relevant data sources.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation for data collection, management, and integration processes.
  • Partnering with regional and school operations staff to conduct data quality audits to ensure accurate and complete data is warehoused through student information and other data systems. Resolving data quality issues in partnership with colleagues.
  • Advocating/escalating system issues to vendor support teams and follow-up on solutions.

Data Strategy 

  • Collaborating with Vice President of Housing and Neighborhood Engagement and various stakeholders on key metric identification and ensure adequate collection of data and feasibility of analysis. Suggesting new lines of analysis and working with colleagues to investigate them.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders in order to encourage questions and surface opportunities to provide support.
  • Seeking opportunities to increase stakeholder ability to use data. Helping plan for and leading the staff training on using data systems and interpreting data reports.
  • Working with team members to analyze current and future data needs of departments.
  • Participating data strategy planning to meet needs of stakeholders across the organization.
  • Participating in a cross-functional data/analytics/compliance team that enables and expedites the gathering, processing, and acting on relevant evidence from all parts of the organization.

 

Qualified candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

 

Education and Experience

  • B.A. or B.S. from an accredited college or university, major in a related field preferred, plus five years of relevant experience in data management-preferably in the real estate, housing, or non-profit fields; or
  • M.A. or M.S. from an accredited college or university, major in a related field preferred, plus three years of relevant experience in data management-preferably in the real estate, housing, or non-profit fields.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong project management skills
  • Robust quantitative and analytical skills, including experience working with large data sets to derive insights
  • Knowledge of the affordable housing, real estate or related field and relevant data sets (e.g., demographics student achievement data, attendance/behavior, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite™ programs; advanced skills with Excel
  • Experience with GIS and other mapping platforms, data visualization and dashboard creation tools (i.e., Tableau)
  • Experience training and communicating data and analytics products to audiences of varying levels of expertise
  • Experience programming in data analysis languages and/or software (e.g., SQL, R, Stata, SPSS).
  • Proven ability to set and meet challenging targets
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships quickly
  • Strategic thinker; ability to think critically about issues and solutions
