Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with almost 4,000 lawyers and staff in 30 offices is seeking a Workplace Project Manager reporting to the Director of Capital Projects. This position can reside in either the Boston, Philadelphia or Washington, D.C. offices and will be responsible for overseeing international and domestic workplace construction build outs and renovations, and other important multi-stage projects. 

 

Responsibilities

  • The Project Manager is responsible for all facets of project management for multiple projects in adherence to budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk goals for each assigned project. In this role the Project Manager provides leadership and facilitation of planning, analysis, design, construction, occupancy, and closeout, and recommendation and implementation of cost effective solutions.  
  • Assemble and manage teams of architects, consultants, contractors and vendors overseeing technical direction.
  • Work with the project team to optimize the design, constructability and value of the project.
  • In conjunction with project delivery vendors and internal stakeholders, prepares scopes of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimate, budget, cash flow, work plan schedule and milestones, quality control, and risk identification/mitigation.
  • Tracks progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets and timelines.
  • Reports status variances. Create action and risk mitigation plans to meet objectives, budget, and schedule.
  • Demonstrates capability to read, understand, and apply complex documents affecting real estate projects, including but not limited to: agreements/contracts, work letters, leases, project charters, surveys, and drawings.
  • Identifies project delivery resources from pre-qualified lists and through individual project qualification process, conducts standard to complex requests for proposals, completes bid analysis based on data driven comparisons and decisions, and leads vendor evaluation interviews.
  • Implements communication plan for meetings and written reports/meeting minutes to keep corporate and project resources informed. Facilitates project meetings.
  • Implement project controls aligned with Firm requirements. Insure project data integrity and documentation is accurate, timely, and coordinated.

 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred. The equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 8+ years of work experience and minimum 2 years of experience in the direct management of construction projects including budget control, estimating, design, construction coordination and project scheduling.
  • Experience with space planning, design and construction of office and workplace based projects highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of building products, construction details, building engineering systems - mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection, and environmentally sustainable practices as well as knowledge of building codes, regulations and approval process.
  • The ability to plan ahead and see the big picture and identify, analyze and manage/mitigate risks.
  • The agility to be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates capability to read, understand, and apply complex documents affecting real estate projects, including but not limited to: agreements/contracts, work letters, leases, project charters, surveys, and drawings.
  • Understanding and working experience with construction contract preparation, AIA document forms, construction payment applications, lien waiver review and preparation, certificates of insurance, and other construction related documentation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong passion for excellent customer service.
  • Strong experience to manage complex projects on a global level.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and facilitation skills (small and large groups), especially when interacting with different levels of business.
  • Computer proficiency with strong experience in spreadsheet preparation and a working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products, including Excel and Word, PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Experience with AutoCad and Revit is desirable.
  • PMP or other professional designation a plus.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time.
