Wicker Park Capital Management, LLC (“WPCM”) is a boutique real estate investment management firm headquartered in Savannah, Georgia. Since inception in 2013, WPCM has invested more than $1.1 billion in apartment, retail, and mixed-use properties throughout the Southeast and Texas on behalf of accredited investors, family offices, and institutional advisors. WPCM is currently investing on behalf of its second, commingled, discretionary fund, WPCM Relative Value Fund II.  In 2018, WPCM launched a full-service retail leasing and management firm, Crawford Square Real Estate Advisors, based out of Birmingham, AL, which now has over ten (10) million square feet under management.  In 2022, WPCM launched Birmingham-based Village Creek Development Partners to develop multi-family and mixed used projects in the Southeast.

As an intern, you will perform financial modeling and analysis of potential real estate transactions and provide analytical support to senior members of the team. On a daily basis, you will gain exposure to the full life cycle of the real estate investment management business including: acquisitions, financings, asset management, and dispositions. The position will be based in WPCM’s Savannah headquarters, with the possibility of occasional travel to other WPCM offices in Birmingham and Atlanta.  

 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting financial modeling to evaluate potential new investment opportunities
  • Assisting in managing the due diligence efforts on new investments through closing
  • Researching and analyzing market data
  • Participating in property inspections and market tours
  • Preparing investment memos and recommendations for presentation to senior management
  • Underwriting and analysis to support asset management and portfolio management decisions (e.g. leasing, financing, buy/sell scenarios, property valuations, and joint venture structuring)
  • Creating and executing strategies for developments, renovations/repositionings, and capital projects
  • Participate in regular calls with third party property managers and joint-venture partners to review operations, progress of business plan initiatives, and financial performance
  • Supporting investor reporting efforts

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed Sophomore year of college, with a preferred major in Finance, Economics, or Real Estate
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must have advanced MS Excel skills
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of the real estate industry and financial concepts specific to real estate investment
  • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial, team environment
  • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize multiple projects and tasks across conflicting deadlines
  • Must demonstrate strong analytical, writing and research skills, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
