Property Accountant

About the Property Accountant Role:

We are looking for a talented Property Accountant who will be responsible for the general ledger accounting activities including, balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of monthly property financial reporting packages. The Property Accountant will also be responsible for the property accounting of 6-10 properties including, collaborating with property managers, regional managers, regional leadership, and investors to ensure accurate, timely, and complete financials.

PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

• Compile and analyze financial information for month-end and year-end close including the preparation of supporting schedules and work papers
• Prepare monthly reporting packages of 6-10 properties, including financial statements and bank reconciliations
• Prepare journal entries and ensure that the general ledger activity is accurate and complete
• Handle cash management including weekly bank reconciliations and daily cash availability
• Collaborate with property managers, regional managers to ensure timely and accurate pre-close activities are recorded
• Support and process Accounts Payable for the assigned properties
• Support accounts receivables function
• On-board new properties to ensure correct set up, make necessary adjustments, and produce accurate financial statements
• Perform other related duties or ad hoc projects including, constructions draws and any other projects within the scope of responsibilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting role required
• 2 or more years of experience in multi-family property management accounting is preferred
• Experience in Appfolio or other equivalent system is preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP is required

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Intermediate to advance level knowledge with MS Office Suite including Excel (including Excel functions), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
