What’s the Role

Affordable Upstate is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a regional Asset Manager, to drive results, streamline processes and enhance the profitability of Affordable Upstate’s existing multifamily portfolio in the region.  The Asset Manager will need to be a highly organized, enthusiastic candidate with strong financial acumen and interpersonal skills. The Asset Manager will also need an understanding of how to execute renovation strategies and motivate property management and in-house support teams to meet stringent deadlines and budgets. The Asset Manager will provide hands on asset management to successfully complete value add business plans, acquisitions and dispositions for the existing and growing multifamily portfolio. This role is quintessential to our growth plan, and must have proven leadership skills, a “can do” attitude and work well multitasking.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements from property managers and operating partners to equity investors and lenders.

  • Implement value-add initiatives and track success on a periodic basis. 

  • Communicate with third-party service providers including property managers, subcontractors, technology vendors, lenders, insurance companies, commercial RE brokers, accountants and attorneys.

  • Maintain key dates and milestones as set forth in business plans, leases and loan documents. 

  • Assist in the underwriting and due diligence of business plans for acquisitions and new development

  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Work and think well under pressure and can meet deadlines consistently.

  • Strong working knowledge of customer service principles and practices.

  • Demonstrate ability to complete objectives and projects with broad managerial direction.  Demonstrate ability to develop projects or plans to meet business group goals and strategies.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about multi-family and workforce housing. 

  • Experience asset managing residential real estate property is required. 

  • Experience drafting and effectively executing business plans. 

  • Understanding of HUD affordable housing programs is a plus but not required. 

  • Understanding of debt and equity as it pertains to multi-family. 

  • Experience working with budgets for multiple properties. 

  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel.

  • Effective business writing skills required.
