Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners (“AJCP”) is seeking a Portfolio Management Associate to support the firm’s rapid growth by coordinating the execution of new acquisitions and the creation of new investment platforms focused on the hospitality, mixed-use, and single-family rental sectors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Portfolio Management Associate will primarily be responsible for assisting with oversight of the firm’s investment strategy, which spans a wide range of mandates including reviewing real estate investment models, developing external investor marketing presentations and creating complex fund models across AJCP’s various investment platforms. Other key responsibilities include underwriting, performance analytics, the development of analyses and presentations related to asset management projects, ongoing fundraising efforts, investor relations initiatives, and corporate finance projects. The position will be a key member of a diverse-focused team with exposure to the entire firm, as well as senior leadership.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support fundraising initiatives and investor due diligence processes, including the development of external marketing materials and performance analytics
  • Work closely with the Investments, Asset Management and Capital Markets teams to incorporate new investments into AJCP’s funds and monitor on-going asset-level and fund-level performance
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed capital events to fund performance (e.g., CapEx projects, asset dispositions, financing activity, etc.)
  • Create the materials and presentations used for quarterly and annual investor reporting of AJCP’s active investment vehicles, as well as analyze and report on activity drivers and other key metrics for senior management
  • Build and maintain dashboards, cash forecasts and other financial reporting systems to ensure AJCP can provide real-time pipeline and portfolio KPI's to key stakeholders

 

WHO YOU ARE

AJCP is seeking a highly-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced, but disciplined, entrepreneurial environment.  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience developing investment models and have extremely strong Excel modeling skills. This role also requires the following capabilities:

  • Knowledge of the underwriting process for real estate investment opportunities using Excel-based underwriting models, including complex cash flow, leverage, IRR/NPV, and fund/partnership waterfall modeling
  • Ability to organize and synthesize disparate information in multiple formats (including Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong executive presentation skills
  • Ability to monitor and manage competing deadlines
  • Advanced project management and process improvement skills
  • Ability to influence others and collaborate amongst multiple teams throughout the organization
  • Ability to communicate information requests effectively
  • Ability to draw conclusions from research and data analysis and communicate them effectively
  • Highly motivated, organized, disciplined and self-directed individual who is eager to learn, deals well with ambiguity at times, and is able to multi-task efficiently

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in real estate private equity or investment banking
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate or related discipline
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and financial modeling experience
  • Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint skills

Preferred

  • Real estate investment banking experience
  • Single-Family and / or multifamily real estate investment experience
  • M&A or fundraising experience
