SLATE Property Group, a New York City-based Owner and Developer of residential and mixed-use real estate, is seeking an Associate of Acquisitions who will be involved with acquisition, asset management, financing, and disposition activities.  The candidate will be responsible for underwriting, diligence, and structuring potential real estate investments across the capital structure, as well as supporting in the asset management of a portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly in support of Slate’s main business lines: Existing Multifamily & Adaptive Re-use, Ground-Up Development, Impact Investing (Affordable/Supportive/Low-Income) and Debt.
  • Lead the underwriting process for commercial real estate debt and equity opportunities by putting together detailed pro-forma cash flow models in Microsoft Excel to analyze across various capital structures.
  • Lead the due diligence and closing processes.  Perform market research, site visits, and reviews of financial statements, leases, and third-party reports.
  • Prepare investment memoranda and supporting materials for Investment Committee review.
  • Gather market data from research reports, local brokerages, databases and trade publications.
  • Track all properties in the active company pipeline and maintain internal tracking sheets and company-wide tracking of all prospective investment opportunities.

 

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant real estate experience at top investment bank. Must possess capital markets experience and strong knowledge of debt and equity investments.
  • Best in class financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • High level knowledge of New York City building code and zoning laws as they relate to ground up construction and the renovation of existing buildings in New York City.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in the property management of New York City multifamily real estate.
  • Expert knowledge of New York City with regards to location of streets, neighborhood profiles, and each market’s rental and for-sale residential housing prices. In addition, for all neighborhoods in New York City an in-depth knowledge of schools, transportation locations, and market opportunities related to real estate, etc.
  • Top-tier education (degree from a Top 30 ranked undergraduate institution)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to successfully manage internal and external relationships.
  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks effectively, take on additional responsibility, and have strong attention to detail.
