Primary Function

Perform the underwriting of and assist in full due diligence and execution process for (1) the acquisition and disposition of commercial properties and (2) the origination and purchase of whole loans, B-notes, mezzanine loans and preferred equity.  The areas of focus will primarily be in the gateway cities of New York City, Washington D.C. and San Francisco.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Day to day responsibilities include all aspects of underwriting, due diligence, creating and using complex financial models, reviewing legal documents and managing the investment process
  • Coordinate with both internal departments and third parties to obtain, process and analyze the information necessary to underwrite and diligence the deal and close multiple transactions simultaneously
  • Work with all members of the Acquisitions Team and have significant interaction with the Senior Management Members
  • Serves as an all-encompassing experience in real estate underwriting, providing the analyst with the opportunity to work on both the acquisition and the debt side, thus creating a platform for a successful career in the industry.
  • Reporting to Associate(s) within Acquisitions and Capital Markets department

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance or related fields
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of progressive financial analysis experience, REIT experience preferred
  • Experience with financial modeling, accounting and valuation preferred

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrate analytical skills and understanding of commercial real estate, finance, accounting and capital markets.
  • Expertise in creating complex Argus and Excel models.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Good organizational skills coupled with ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Internal & External Contacts

  • Regularly interfaces both verbally, and in writing with management and staff within the Finance and Accounting departments and with members from the Asset Management, Leasing and Property Management departments.
