The Director of Property IT Services has two primary areas of focus. These are direct oversight and management of the property IT services projects and support of the VP of IT in the operational oversight and management of all IT functions.  Regarding IT operations and management, the focus is to become familiar with all aspects of our current IT department. This role will assist in the day-to-day leadership aspects of the department.  Regarding the oversight of Piedmont’s property IT services projects, the candidate will be responsible for scheduling/monitoring and supporting all property related technology projects.  These projects can range from simple to a very complex implementation. This job will be accountable for proper vendor management of outsourced functions and for internal communication regarding those functions to staff and senior management.

 


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  •  A Four-year degree is required or equivalent experience.
  •  8+ years of direct IT management experience. Should be knowledgeable and conversant in IT leadership topics – strategy, budgeting, project portfolio management, staff management, policy and procedure development, vendor management, IT operations, SOX audit, cybersecurity, communication at all corporate levels
  •  5+ years of direct experience with operational technology for Office Commercial Real Estate properties. Must understand basic building networking operations and security, including wireless networks, as well as computer workstation operations and security. Must be familiar with building engineering systems such as energy management, HVAC, elevators, etc. Must be familiar with building security systems such as video surveillance and badge access. Familiarity with modern amenity systems such as interactive directories, video walls, and audio-visual systems is a plus.
  •  5+ years of direct experience in project management. Must be proficient in defining goals, developing, and tracking project plans, tracking, and resolving issues, directing cross functional teams, leading meetings, motivating team members, and enforcing accountability
  • 3+ years of direct experience in business analysis. Must be proficient in gathering requirements, analyzing business processes, solving problems, reporting status, creating documentation, delivering training, and performing research into complex application issues involving multiple technologies
  • Strong customer-service orientation combined with advanced communication and interpersonal skills; and ability to train and communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time
  • The physical requirements involve sitting to perform general office work at computer, and mobility between departments or office area to facilitate work. 
  • Routine travel is not required for this position.

 


JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

1.    Participate in day to day IT corporate operations (20% of Time):

  • Address assigned and escalated support tickets.
  • Adhere to and participate in change management activities.
  • Adhere to and participate in incident management activities and communications.
  • Communicate and partner with members of other departments to ensure IT is positioned to provide secure and effective technology solutions.

 

2.    Learn and assist with IT Management activities (15% of Time):

  • Participate in regular IT leadership meetings and follow up activities.
  • Work with internal and outsourced IT leadership to understand and maintain the strategies and solutions in place for all IT functions.
  • Work with internal and outsourced IT leadership to ensure all IT functions are delivered at an acceptable level of quality.
  • Participate in vendor management activities for all IT vendors.
  • Participate in IT policy development and enforcement.
  • Participate in IT budgeting and expense approval and tracking.

 

3.    Manage corporate IT projects (10% of Time):

  • Create and maintain project plans.
  • Ensure proper project documentation.
  • Conduct team meetings and report status.
  • Track and ensure resolution of issues.
  • Drive project accountability and manage project vendors.

 

4.    Manage portfolio of property IT projects (50% of Time):

  • Manage overall list of property projects. Work with property management to ensure required priorities.
  • Ensure proper definition and approval of property projects.
  • Ensure property projects adhere to related technology policies and standards. Track and manage related policy exceptions.
  • Coordinate efforts between IT, property management, engineering, IT vendors and building system vendors related to property projects.

 

5.   Perform other tasks as directed by the Vice President of IT (5% of Time)
