Description


The Controller will support upscale boutique hotels' financial functions. This position is responsible and accountable for financial reporting, financial management, and accounting to Ownership and Management Company. The Hotel Controller's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following duties. 

Job Description:

-Implement and oversee financial controls throughout the property.

-Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations and G/L reconciliations for the assigned hotel property.

-Report financial results to owners and management in accordance with hotel Accounting Principles each month.

-Develop annual budget procedures and guidelines each year.

-Schedule and conduct annual audit.

-Direct the daily, weekly, and monthly reporting process in compliance with Management and Ownership requirements.

-Develop accurate and timely forecasts including labor-management along with other departments

-Direct control of costs and expenses in all areas, Taskmaster.

-Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

-Oversee risk management program, including all insurances.

-Payroll management 

-Oversee financial training of all management.

-In preparing for this position, the candidate ideally will have worked in at least the following departments or positions as an Assistant Controller or Controller for a hotel or resort property.               

-Requires a minimum of 3 years (s) of experience.

-Position will be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends.

-Manage capital expenditures according to budget


Job Requirements:

-Three years experience as an assistant or hotel/resort/residential controller overseeing multiple revenue streams in excess of $10M.

-Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred, Finance degree, a plus

-Familiarity with Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (11th Edition)

-Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, and financial accounting systems

-Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.



Technical Requirements:

-Solid training in all areas of Accounting from A/P, A/R, General Ledger, Credit, Collections, Audit, -Inventory control, Payroll, Budgeting, Costing, P&L preparation, and analysis, etc.

-Work closely with Front Office, Reservations, Housekeeping, Sales, and F&B Department to assist them in identifying optimum ways to control expenses while maximizing revenue.

-Oversee consolidation of budgets and projections.

-Assist Departments in budget preparation.

-Provide management with operational reports.

-Prepare and review daily reports. 

-Identify and recommend software applications.

-Review leases, contracts, agreements, subcontracts, and licenses from accounting perspective.

-Must have experience using various accounting and hotel software such as M3, Quickbooks and Opera.
