Description

Vice President, Campus Development & Facilities

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

Burnaby, BC

For close to 60 years, British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has been providing highly relevant, critical education and training to individuals endeavoring to be uniquely career-ready in a competitive and ever-changing market.

As part of providing a 21st Century polytechnic educational experience, BCIT’s Board of Governors recently approved a comprehensive campus plan which will ensure that BCIT realizes its goals to further foster innovation, collaboration, and leading-edge sustainability going forward.

A newly created role of Vice President Campus Development and Facilities has been created to introduce innovation and push the boundaries of incorporating new technology, construction methods, and project delivery models that result in award-winning buildings that truly showcases BCIT, and that enhances the teaching and learning experience in a myriad of ways.

Overseeing teams in Campus Development, Project Services, and Facilities Services, the Vice President will be joining at an exciting time for the Institute.  With a new Burnaby Health Science Centre for Advanced Simulation under construction and several large projects on deck including a mass timber student housing project and reconfiguration of the Downtown Campus, this is a rare opportunity for an inspiring leader to put their stamp on one of British Columbia’s most respected organizations.

This individual, who will report to the President and be a member of the executive team, will have led large teams and provided strategic advice to senior executives, Boards, and leadership across complex organizations around land use, facility design, project execution, and ideally (but not necessarily) around maintenance and facilities services. With an impressive portfolio of recent capital projects, this individual may today be working in the private or public sector – although exposure to both would be ideal. The ideal candidate is a team player and culture builder who ensures a consistent focus on clients and end-users.  This individual will inspire creativity in the team and inspire confidence at the executive and Board tables.

A once-in-a-career opportunity, the Vice President will be joining a well-supported organization at a time of change and growth and where there is a clear opportunity to add immeasurable value to a critical post-secondary institute.

This role is based at BCIT’s main campus in Burnaby.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are core values for the British Columbia Institute of Technology. BCIT encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including women, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, people of all sexual orientations and gender identities and expressions, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of the Institute.
