Underwriting Senior Associate

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The candidate will work with the SVP of Credit and Underwriting as they source and underwrite new single tenant net lease retail investments. They will support the SVP of Credit and Underwriting in underwriting potential investments from a corporate credit, tenant performance, lease structure, and real estate quality perspective to identify risks and ways to mitigate risks.

  • Perform all acquisition underwriting responsibilities including financial analysis, market research, monitoring market and submarket fundamentals, lease review, lease comps, sales comps, and other due diligence.
  • In coordination with the SVP of Credit and Underwriting, analyze the financial health and credit risks of investment opportunities using standard and custom risk analysis tools.
  • Articulate findings (Risks & Mitigants) and provide recommendations for transactions in a professional, thorough manner.
  • Create Investment Committee memos present to Investment Committee.
  • Monitor tenant credit profiles of existing investments. Identify positive/negative trends as they relate to the portfolio’s performance objectives.
  • Perform research on potential tenants/industries of focus.
  • Conduct property site inspections and market tours (travel required).
  • Manage and maintain portfolio watchlist.
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Requirements, Skills, and Competencies we feel best set the candidate up for success

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, finance, real estate, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial underwriting, credit analysis, or portfolio management experience
  • Ability to produce organized, detail-oriented deliverables with little to no supervision, work independently, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and voice investment concerns and offer concise analysis
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to collaborate within and beyond his/her team
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of business leadership, ethics, intellectual curiosity, and collaboration
