The Marketing Director (MD), Development, is responsible for leading the creation and implementation of B2C and B2B marketing, communications and business development strategies to support the Lendlease Americas Development business to achieve brand, profit and sales/leasing targets.  Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs & Marketing, Americas, the MD will be responsible for building and leading a “best-in-class” customer-centric marketing organization that aligns with the business’ model and goals. 

The successful candidate will be a consummate corporate affairs and marketing leader and a veritable expert when it comes to development – both acquisitions and property marketing. S/he will be responsible for delivering highly coordinated sales and marketing efforts; driving superior customer satisfaction; delivering quality work and effective outcomes; supporting the business’ growth goals and objectives; and building/motivating the marketing team.

 

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and skills required of personnel so classified.

 

  • Lead market-wide brand and property marketing initiatives to provide customers with experiences and product offerings consistent with Lendlease brand objectives and deliver on sales, revenue and engagement targets for the business.
  • Drive the development of and ensure cohesion of place / destination and product brands, messaging and marketing output in the region.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director, Property, Americas, the Executive General Managers for Development in all gateway cities as well as the Asset and Investment Management teams to determine and prioritize the delivery of integrated marketing plans to support the successful delivery of each individual market/development business’ objectives, as well as Lendlease’s overall regional brand positioning objectives.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the markets we operate in and respective project plans.
  • Oversee and lead and the development and implementation of strategies directly aligned to support sales, leasing and customer relationship targets across residential, commercial and retail projects.
  • Drive an integrated and best-in-class approach in business development strategy and deliverables.
  • Oversee and drive the tactical marketing implementation within existing frameworks and budgets including brand development and positioning, lead generation / nurturing, digital programs, PR, content development and management, launch to market, sales / leasing programs and stakeholder and community engagement/management through on and offline platforms.
  • Bring channel expertise, particularly in the digital space, to optimize the impact and efficiency of all programs.
  • Ensure the delivery of marketing collateral, sales environments and tools, on and offline promotional planning and execution, events and data analysis while overseeing the completion of administrative tasks and compliance with Lendlease’s operating policies and processes.
  • Ensure that the appropriate CRM tools are in place and leveraged to support business objectives.
  • Oversee internal resource and coordinate RFPs/manage third parties for the development and implementation of the stated deliverables. 
  • Multitask across several projects / assets leveraging excellent people / stakeholder management skills, project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Develop close working relationships across business unit, function within the organization, and bring a strong network of sales and marketing contacts externally and within the industry. Strong organization and communication skills are needed.
  • Manage delivery and execution of customer research and associated action plans for the business unit.

Leadership

  • Serve as principal advisor to the executive and senior leadership team on emerging and ongoing reputational issues and risks.  Anticipate reputational risk issues and develop and implement appropriate communication actions accordingly.
  • Identify and use a set of robust and useful KPIs to help rationalize spend, deliver P&L impact, and inform strategies and tactics.
  • Act as a single point of contact for the allocation and management of marketing and communications resources.  
  • Oversee and manage the performance and career development of direct reports. 
  • Establish a succession plan with clear and definitive paths for advancement for the full team.
  • Rigorously track and report on all activity, performance and outcomes to business unit and marketing leadership in pursuit of continuous improvement. 
  • Solicit internal client feedback on service delivery and revise processes/engagement model as necessary.
  • Coordinate with other Corporate Affairs & Communications professionals to develop and share best practices.
  • Ensure overall achievement of budgeted financial targets and other standards set forth in approved business plans.

General Background and Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Business or related field preferred.
  • 15+ years’ experience in a real estate and/or property marketing role, with at least 7 years’ experience in a leadership role, part of which ideally would have been within a matrixed organization.
  • A deep understanding of property marketing, sales / leasing and brand management is required, as well as hands-on marketing and communications experience in the residential development/real estate industry.
  • Ability to interact with senior-level executives requiring confidence, excellent diplomacy skills, intelligence and communication skills. 
  • Extensive integrated marketing experience with focus on managing detailed projects with multiple stakeholders on tight timelines and budgets.
  • Experience in database management including direct communication tools and generation / interpretation of marketing analytics.
  • Strong leadership capability and focus on delivering results while working with diverse teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Have an established track record of superior performance, innovative problem-solver who can dismantle roadblocks with flair and speed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, prioritizing, managing and driving each project to completion effectively and efficiently.
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to influence peers and leaders.
  • Strong administration experience. Accounts / budgets management including reconciling expenses and invoices essential.
  • Management experience is a plus.
