Montgomery County Department of Parks, The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission

The Montgomery County Department of Parks is part of The Maryland-National Capital & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). M-NCPPC is a six-time winning, nationally recognized agency and recipient of the National Gold Medal award for Excellence in Park and Recreation management, serving the Maryland region adjacent to Washington, D. C. The Montgomery County Dept. of Parks provides 421 parks on over 37,000 acres of parkland(over 10% of the County's total acreage) to the diverse population of more than one million residents. The Department has a staff of nearly 800 employees and an annual operating budget of over $100 million. Our six-year capital budget is $195 million, of which $39.5 million is for land acquisition.
